S3EP55 - Unthankful

Pastor Bill:

[0:00] Hello and welcome to season 3 episode 55 of the Berean Manifesto; Faith, Hope, and Love for the Modern Christian. I'm Pastor Bill and as always I am joined all the way from the great state of Tennessee by my friend and yours the awesome Pastor Newms.

Pastor Newms:

[0:28] Okay okay first off calm down with all that stuff.

Pastor Bill:

[0:34] Calling Tennessee great? I'm sorry I didn't mean to... You wouldn't know it you're going to the store with you ever. Going to store this man and everybody everybody's his friend.

Pastor Newms:

[0:50] That is. I act friendly with all not everyone is my friend.

Pastor Bill:

[1:05] All right well we've got puff is joining us on our Phoenix or whatever she goes by I can never remember first post Color age, Phoenix Wright fluffiness, um yeah Phoenix is joining us on Twitch and we got Biggs on Twitch which hopefully our connection will be better this week than it was man was that alright that was that last week.

Pastor Newms:

[1:29] Why did you say it why did you say it everything was going out perfect now that you've said it.

Pastor Bill:

[1:34] Everything will continue to go out perfect because… ya… We got Zaydiee here on Twitch Biggs likes my fancy shirt. Favor blue you know the company Favor, Favor blue tuxedo shirt it's actually is a Favor um from the information meeting that I went to, to try to get some rides working for Favor but the never actually didn't any Favor rides but that's a whole different story. So how was your week Pastor Newms?

Pastor Newms:

[2:08] My week was pretty good other than the fact of one of my kids is still, um sick. Um and we are on quarantined locked down in our house everyone sleeping in separate rooms where my girls sometimes sleep in the bonus room together and watch TV and stuff everyone is in separate rooms. My wife and I are not even sleeping together to try to distance socially which I don't like. It is what it is so far no one else has had any symptoms. So that's how it's been a fun it's been a fun Thanksgiving holiday and I use fun very lightly. But other than that it's been good it was a short week at work because of the holiday it's so I played a lot of games and did some reading and that kind of stuff this week so my week was a little lighter than normal just because, was only 3 days of work.

Pastor Bill:

[3:18] Bigs on Twitch asks which on your shirt it says the original and then it's got a Joker, Catwoman, and The Riddler from the 1950s Batman television show.

Pastor Newms:

[3:32] I thought that was a 60s.

Pastor Bill:

[3:33] Okay. I was a credit with 50s but.

Pastor Newms:

[3:38] But it says and it says gangster at the bottom so.

Pastor Bill:

[3:51] The Batman show that was live action but the violence wasn't and since they couldn't show that kind of action on television they put up animated cards that said pal blam yeah.

Pastor Newms:

[4:04] Bam no it ran from 66 to 68 twice weekly and third three times weekly for the last season. So 120 episodes. It's weird they did 26 60 and 26 episodes in the seasons that's interesting.

Pastor Bill:

[4:30] Well that's a trial order a full order and then a okay yeah will give you enough to finish the thought. Pass.

Pastor Newms:

[4:48] By season.

Pastor Bill:

[4:49] Phoenix says that was solid gold Bill what was solid gold. Me putting it in the wrong decade or like you being facetious or what was solid gold – P - she's put up the letter p.

Pastor Newms:

[5:09] Season 3 is when they introduced Bat Girl to try to help with the ratings and where the famous statement of jumped the shark comes from.

Pastor Bill:

[5:21] Hmmm, are you sure that didn't come from Happy Days?

Pastor Newms:

[5:28] Was it? I always took it to come from here.

Pastor Bill:

[5:32] Where he actually the Fonz actually jumps the shark on jet skis.

Pastor Newms:

[5:41] I thought it was here maybe I'm wrong.

Pastor Bill:

[5:54] Crew and set up where he did use bat shark repellent it was quite the scene. You said nice… Can you guys see my Green Lantern?

Pastor Newms:

[6:13] Yeah I can see the green. The Green Lantern and part most of the screwdriver but not all of it it's right above my head.

Pastor Bill:

[6:22] Hmm just turn it around then so you can see the not so much to handle but actual bud.

Pastor Newms:

[6:30] Oh no you're right it is from Happy Days I was wrong.

Pastor Bill:

[6:35] All right see you had a good.

Pastor Newms:

[6:39] They just used the phrase.

Pastor Bill:

[6:41] You know I wouldn't categorize exactly what you guys went through this week is a good week.

Pastor Newms:

[6:49] No no but it was it was a week and no one no one no one's real sick so, no one had to go to the hospital no one cuz it is always a chance with covid so I'm I'm counting it good for that reason because it's been a mild case as far as how bad it can get she was very sick but it hasn't gotten terrible, so how was your week.

Pastor Bill:

[7:23] We had Thanksgiving. We went and decorated my mom's for Christmas and.

Pastor Newms:

[7:42] We played a lot of satisfactory didn't stream any of.

Pastor Bill:

[7:44] We played a good amount of satisfactory this week.

Pastor Newms:

[7:50] It's not really unless you're doing something specific it's a hard game to stream though because it really is just the same thing over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over again.

Pastor Bill:

[8:03] It's true it wouldn't be that it wouldn't be that fun to watch.

Pastor Newms:

[8:31] I'm looking forward to the game we play next but.

Pastor Bill:

[8:36] Which is going to be what as if I didn't already know.

Pastor Newms:

[8:41] It's one of two, either start either play through the Borderlands games or so we get something different because it's a shooter or turn up a server and play Ark.

Pastor Bill:

[8:57] I just assumed it was going to be Borderlands the next because you've been chomping at the bit.

Pastor Newms:

[9:03] It is it is my favorite game of all time. We will probably stream our entire gameplay even if we don't do it live, I'll probably record all of it just because I want to see Billiams reaction to most of the jokes in the game because it is just that good, okay I was just thinking about it on the fact I forgot to get it out the just the game itself is so good, some of my favorite lines of video game characters in a bunch of Tik-Tok audios you don't realize are from Borderlands and so it'll be it'll be good we'll get ourselves some chocolate chip cookies.

Pastor Bill:

[9:58] Okay.

Pastor Newms:

[10:01] Skag Meat.

Pastor Bill:

[10:02] Some skag meat, I think I recognize that. Okay so it's time for Getting To Know The Pastor's I've already got the card.

Pastor Newms:

[10:10] Oh should we talk about the one the one other thing we found out this week.

Pastor Bill:

[10:15] What did we find out.

Pastor Newms:

[10:16] That Newms is a sweaty boy when I don't like to admit.

Pastor Bill:

[10:19] Newms is quite the sweaty boy, now you got to tell you everybody what a sweaty boy is.

Pastor Newms:

[10:25] We found out I found out Billiam knew it was there but I had forgotten about it and then found it again, in the Star Trek game we play together, there is a little thing in your profile that says how many hostiles you've killed over the time of you playing and I've played for, significantly less time than most people on the server we play on because I entered the server much later than everyone else because I entered to play with, Pastor Bill which is Hew him so, I've only been playing for seven months whereas Bills been playing over here and I found out, that my hostel shifts destroyed is currently as of right now. Just over 90,000. Hostiles. Which means I've ground in the game and just hit hostels over and over and over again as a as a thing. Billiam is higher level than me by 4 has been playing for an extra five months or so no six months or so, his hostile ships destroyed is 66,000 694. So I've killed 23,000 more ships.

Pastor Bill:

[12:12] In half the time.

Pastor Newms:

[12:14] Half the time that I've played and I. That messes with me a little because I'm like like I game a lot I get that but like I'm always playing more than one game at a time and, I've had a lot of ships.

Pastor Bill:

[12:39] And the and the guy who plays this game professionally for his YouTube channel how many hostiles had a yet.

Pastor Newms:

[12:46] On his main account.

Pastor Bill:

[12:49] 23 years that he's been doing this.

Pastor Newms:

[12:52] On his main account he was around where you were he was at like 70,000 or but he plays multiple accounts.

Pastor Bill:

[13:03] He has at least 14 Accounts at this point so.

Pastor Newms:

[13:08] Billiam if I mean Biggs if you click on your icon your little your little person in the top left, and then you there's a scroll item and it shows like power destroyed missions completed resources mind, and then down there it says hostile ships destroyed I would.

Pastor Bill:

[13:30] Cuz cuz Biggs plays this game too.

Pastor Newms:

[13:33] Yes I would be interested in your Damage Done to hostels I didn't look at it it's probably significantly higher because you've been hitting higher ships mine is right at 35 billion Damage Done.

Pastor Bill:

[13:48] Well I don't have the game open right now so I couldn't tell.

Pastor Newms:

[13:50] I know I'm I'm already looking.

Pastor Bill:

[13:52] Oh you're looking into mine.

Pastor Newms:

[13:54] Yeah I don't know if it's one of the things that's public that's the aspect I don't I don't know,

it is yeah you have done 50 billion damage so you have done more damage you just.

Pastor Bill:

[14:11] More damage and less hostels.

Pastor Newms:

[14:14] You've ground higher-level hostiles I ground a lot when I was lower to get up faster, Biggs is killed 19 thousand ships almost 18300 so he's doing a good amount of grinding himself.

Pastor Bill:

[14:33] All right let's do Getting To Know The Pastor's.

Pastor Newms:

[14:36] Getting To Know The Pastors sorry sidetracked.

Pastor Bill:

[14:38] I've been sitting here with the card stuck to my forehead.

Pastor Newms:

[14:41] I know it was gross.

Pastor Bill:

[14:45] If there was a sandwich named after you what would be on it.

Pastor Newms:

[14:55] Hmm um. Well, my favorite sandwich even though I'm not supposed to eat it is the Hunter at Jimmy John's, which is turkey roast beef, and cheese and then a bunch of crap I get off of it the same which I make it home, most of the time is, pan cooked skillet cooked chopped up roast beef and cheese, with onion powder garlic and Italian seasoning so depends, I don't know what about you.

Pastor Bill:

[15:57] Well I've already had a burger designed in my honor as a type of sandwich it was two half-pound burger patties on a cinnamon raisin bagel, and some barbecue sauce in there and some chopped up onions and lettuce, and the gentleman who created it with a Muslim so there was no bacon but if I could have bacon added then I would want bacon at it and yeah, so that was that was what was in there for me is Phoenix is running to my burger, okay it is delicious surprisingly delicious.

Pastor Newms:

[16:47] I I've never understood the raisin part I couldn't get behind it I'm sorry homie even when I watched you eat it I couldn't do it.

Pastor Bill:

[16:59] This delicious fantastic. Um and then if it was a drink it's 3/4 a solo cup of dr. pepper and one shot of espresso. That's the drink. What?

Pastor Newms:

[17:22] What is wrong with you?

Pastor Bill:

[17:23] It’s delicious. I call it a Dr. Spresso. What's wrong with my Dr. Spresso.

Pastor Newms:

[17:42] Are we over yet.

Pastor Bill:

[17:44] We haven't started. You're done too tired okay.

Pastor Newms:

[17:57] Oh I am thankful that we are time for us to talk about our topic.

Pastor Bill:

[18:09] All right so the title of.

Pastor Newms:

[18:11] Wait wait wait wait wait wait wait wait Biggs says that's a Dagwood what is a Dagwood.

Pastor Bill:

[18:17] Dagwood is any bread that you have available that you slap anything you have in your fridge or Pantry on.

Pastor Newms:

[18:24] Oh

Pastor Bill:

[18:24] Into a sandwich he was responding to Phoenix.

Pastor Newms:

[18:28] Mmm okay.

Pastor Bill:

[18:31] As we're a Dagwood.

Pastor Newms:

[18:33] I'm not familiar with that term.

Pastor Bill:

[18:36] A Bat Brain gets just says I just got onto the first thing I hear is that you're done we're not really done Newms is just doing his facetious thing of.

Pastor Newms:

[18:47] Yeah.

Pastor Bill:

[18:47] When I say something that he thinks is outlandish and he's like it's too much I can't I can't move I can't go.

Pastor Newms:

[18:51] Hey it's fast too much.

Pastor Bill:

[18:54] I'm done I was just.

Pastor Newms:

[18:56] Which for those of you out in in both Twitch land and in listening to podcast land I do that to him normally.

Pastor Bill:

[19:06] He does.

Pastor Newms:

[19:07] There will be times where one of us will just end the call and walk away for a minute and then come back when we're talking because it's like no done and walk away.

Pastor Bill:

[19:17] Thousand out.

Pastor Newms:

[19:18] We never stay gone long but it's just the funniness of nope so this is we don't actually end for your guys's benefit normally I would just hang up on him and come back in a minute.

Pastor Bill:

[19:33] It's true. All right, so this week's episode is called unthankful and I know we're coming right on the tail end of Thanksgiving and then we're having an episode called unthankful, and I struggled with the so the first thing I got this week was was what to title, the episode unthankful and I told Newms you know we're that the title is unthankful and he's like which means what and I was like I don't know, I don't know I'll let you know when I find out more and so then I was trying to sus it out today and, so yeah so we tonight it's called unthankful, and so for tonight we're going to turn to first Thessalonians chapter 5 and we're going to read. I think we'll start in verse 12 I'm wearing to go through. Let's go through 22 okay first Thessalonians chapter 5 verses 12 through 22 says, now we ask you brothers and sisters to give recognition to those who labor among you and Lead You In The Lord and admonish you and to regard them very highly in love because of their work, be at peace amongst yourselves guys this is his entry his his introduction to his exit to 1st Thessalonians, be at peace among ourselves and we exhort you brothers and sisters warn those who are idle, Comfort the discouraged help the weak be patient with everyone see to it that no one repays evil for evil to anyone but always pursue what is good for one another and for all,

and this is where we get to the really meaty part that we're going to be spending some time in tonight, Rejoice always pray constantly give thanks in everything for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus, don't stifle Spirit don't despise prophecies but tests all things hold on to what is good stay away from every kind of evil. Verse 21 of Thessalonians chapter 5 test all things hold on to what is good, this is this is the kind of concept that we were talking about when we were talking about the Apocrypha when we were talking about the deuterocanonical books, when we're talking about looking at other religions and going well you know they might be onto something there with that one aspect when we say things like, um you know people have gotten glimpses of God, through all the time not just Israelites not just Christians not Jay you know we get a glimpse of God and we try to understand what we just saw and we write it down or we create beliefs about it. You know tests all those things read it find out what it says and, take the good that you find the stuff that you know makes you a better person the things that make you love God more than seek God more have a better relationship with God, hold on to those things and you know, let go of the things that don't sound right and don't don't give you a better life and don't make you a better Christian don't make you love God more. So yeah that's that's a side note there.

Pastor Newms:

[23:30] That's a good side note.

Pastor Bill:

[23:32] That's a good sign is that all you have to say about the side note is that's a good side note.

Pastor Newms:

[23:36] That's all I got.

Pastor Bill:

[23:38] That's all he's got okay.

Pastor Newms:

[23:40] It's all I got.

Pastor Bill:

[23:41] So I basically have and we may just just tear through this I don't know, um because I didn't flush it out much but but basically when we're looking at first Thessalonians chapter 5 and we get 2 verses 16 through 18 right it says, give thanks in everything or that's 18 Rejoice always pray constantly give thanks in everything okay. This is basically one sentence it's split up into three versus but it's one sentence it says Rejoice always come, pray constantly, give thanks in everything semicolon, for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus so I want to look at that there's these three things that were being told to do, and then also told you know that, these things are God's will for us in Christ Jesus this is what God wants for us is for us to always Rejoice always pray and always be thankful. And so I was going through that today and I'm thinking about you know why why why these three things, and when I when we talk about always Rejoice there's lots of things in the Bible where it says you know rejoice in the lord always rejoice in the hope that you have, rejoicing and the thing is that the Lord does so. Wow words juice blank what's the word the practical application. Ends this when we think about the practical application of this statement, I've Rejoice always there's this concept in psychiatry in, psychology about celebrating all the small victories right, you celebrate All the Small victories and and basically what happens then is that you start to see, the ways in life that you've succeeded you start to see the ways in life where you have overcome you start to see the, attitude of your life gets this, upward trajectory instead of constantly feeling defeated instead of constantly feeling beat down instead of constantly being overwhelmed, by the world and everything that's going on around you right wildfires covid, January 6 Capital thing shootings and diseases and wars and rumors of wars and all these things that are going on in the world that are just, awful and ridiculous that way on all of our shoulders and make us feel heavy right. We celebrate the small victories to bring that Focus back in to give us a trajectory up. And and here Paul is Paul wrote Thessalonians right. Well Paul, Silvanus, and Timothy did they all three co-write it.

Pastor Newms:

[27:38] I think that is the common thought yes.

Pastor Bill:

[27:53] God wants you to be always rejoice in God's will for your life isn't for you to be beat down, and depressed and feeling overwhelmed God wants you to be celebrating the Small Things finding ways to rejoice, keeping that attitude and that trajectory upwards and outwards instead of being overcome and overwhelmed and Beatdown okay that's my point number one tonight, anything you want to add to always Rejoice anything you've heard in your life that you can add that. Or experience.

Pastor Newms:

[28:35] I mean it's one of those things like you said it's it's it's important in life to celebrate the small things because there is so much going on, like kind of what we were talking about earlier you know I was in okay it was a good week you know it could've been worse you know because you know we celebrate the little things that did happen that we're good not, think about and dwell on all the things, could have gone wrong and have gone wrong this week like canceling Thanksgiving and you know.

Pastor Bill:

[29:12] And you were saying you were saying yesterday you know I don't like to leave the house I can go weeks without leaving the house and the moment we're quarantined I just feel trapped like I have to get up.

Pastor Newms:

[29:26] Yeah and and it it's a weird realization that particular aspect. Because I found it the first time you know the the time when we were all quarantined for a long amount of time I this is this is where I exist right here, if you ever wonder you know is doing right now he's either doing this, he's doing this or he's doing this.

Pastor Bill:

[29:56] Sometimes there's some sleeping in there somewhere but.

Pastor Newms:

[30:00] There is there is but only about 20% of the day. The majority of the time I'm right in this chair doing this or that and you know, but then you get Court like you're told you can't go to this you know, you can go to the store but you have to wear a mask because I'm fully vaccinated is with the CDC, for the county and stuff is said and blah blah blah and it's like I'm just gonna stay home because it could be on me you know but, it's just that aspect of when I'm not supposed to go a lot of places I'm not supposed to you know do this or do and I'm like well I just want to go to the mall now, quarantines going to be over in 10 days because no one else in the house is going to get sick I believe and, when it is I'm not going to want to go out everyone else in the house is going to be stir crazy but. I'm like no I'm good but you were just complaining last week now I'm good, we have to be thankful for the things we do have and not focus on the things that are making a stir crazy.

Pastor Bill:

[31:25] Absolutely okay.

Pastor Newms:

[31:27] And I think you know one of the commentaries talks about this I know you've already read the same commentary because it's your one of your favorite commentaries but, these three specifically are very connected because to be thankful is to do the next thing which is.

Pastor Bill:

[31:52] I'm just going to sit here and see how long you'll wave your hands and Beyond, all right so the next verse is.

Pastor Newms:

[32:01] China Segway try and trying to set you up.

Pastor Bill:

[32:05] The CHP says pray constantly I said always pray bigs in twitch wrote pray without ending these are all the same, these are mean the same things and and prayer you know we, a lot of times when people talk about prayer we think of the staunch person using big words and being over, religious and you know the guy that God specific Jesus, specifically said don't pray like those people those are the people we think about when we think about prayer you know oh God the Lord of heavens and earth, I thank you that I am not a slave or a woman was coming you know prayer back in the day and in Israel. I would never pray that but it was a common prayer and gods like dude don't don't pray like those guys duh there's pump their circumstances they're not actually talking to God they're just trying to get the attention of the people around them, um and so pray constantly well why, why would we need to pray constantly why do we pray at all and there's, there's different thoughts about how prayer works I've made it no secret on the Broom Manifesto that I the way that I see the world the way the world works and the relationship of the world with God that, God created us God gave us dominion over the Earth and everything that happens here has to happen with the permission of humanity, so from that theological perspective prayer is giving God permission, authority to move it doesn't mean he will move in the way that you've asked, it doesn't mean that you're guaranteed what you asked for or if you you ask for a Cadillac that you're going to get it or money you're going to doesn't mean any of that, it means that your prayer gives God the authority to move in the Earth the way he needs to move. And big says God knows what you ask.

Pastor Newms:

[34:34] God knows what you want but he wants you.

Pastor Bill:

[34:35] I want buddy wants you to ask sorry there's some autocorrect going on there out of trouble reading the sentence, and so there is that that concept that people have that you know you have not because you ask not true seek and you shall find true knock and it shall be answered true, it doesn't always work that way you know, you don't always get what you ask for sometimes what you ask for is bad for you sometimes what you ask for is bad for other people on and on and on the whole it's a whole you know sticky situation there but I believe that prayer is an act of prophetic interception where you are giving God, room to move basically because we're the authority, humankind the authority on the earth and as Christians were then giving God, the authority to move in this situation that we're praying about how do you. You want to talk about what you think about prayer your viewing.

Pastor Newms:

[35:45] So um so.

Pastor Bill:

[35:51] Address today's date is question.

Pastor Newms:

[35:53] Well let me because I was about to do the exact same thing so I'll I want to kind of, so for me my thought process is, The Authority that's been given to us as humans when he gave authority over the Earth to humans that we then, gave away and then had to get anyway the, when you ask God to do something that it is opening up, yourself and others to fulfill that we have to you know God has a will, he has something he's wanting to do and. We should be connected in such a way that we pray for his will to be done and in praying that will out that then, allows like you said allows him to move in those situations, when God gave the authority over to us it it you know it's not saying that God doesn't have the power.

Pastor Bill:

[37:22] Say gave up the Authority or gave away the authority.

Pastor Newms:

[37:28] It's not that God is Not powerful enough that there's some people that like well if God is all-powerful why can't he just do what he wants.

Pastor Bill:

[37:37] It's that he's not a liar and he gave us authority to just do what he wants would make that a lie he has to get permission.

Pastor Newms:

[38:01] Some people struggle with that because it's not what they were talking.

Pastor Bill:

[38:04] They should struggle with it they should circle with all statement.

Pastor Newms:

[38:08] Yeah and you know us having the authority, it's interesting to think about that aspect but there are, you know the Bible talks about God giving Authority in certain situations to people so often, you know God gives leadership Authority God gives you know all leadership is ordained you know people are Dane to do certain things God gives, certain spiritual gifts and power to people on an individual level and giving those pieces of authority over aspects over time, you know is interesting thought one of the things. I've heard in the past and that I do, the person referred to it as micro prayers which is a weird concept because it's it's just praying without ceasing and, someone asked The Story Goes that someone asked a monk you know how do you continue to pray how are you not, ceasing in your prayers is that why you don't talk and he said well I continue to talk to God all the time even if I'm talking to you because I'm I'm, asking God what should be the next thing I say I ask God you know. Did I understand that I asked God different things like that. Society asks when we pray do we say I give you permission to work in a way so deem necessary or something along those lines it doesn't seem right because either way he's going to work how he needs to so, it's. If we look at the Lord's Prayer it's a really good analogy for this situation and a great formula like you said is, may your will be done on Earth as it is in heaven so his will in heaven is easy because it.

Pastor Bill:

[40:34] Because he has the authority there.

Pastor Newms:

[40:36] So it just what he wants happens because it's not the Physical Realm there's not rules that he said about of physics there's not you know different things like that it's, it's heaven but the aspect of. Earth we want his will to come true, and so it's that thought process of its kind like when you pray for healing, God I know you can heal this person if it's your will please do, you know it's not, necessarily for me it's not God do this now.

Pastor Bill:

[41:13] Hmm it's simple enough to just say you know. I command the signatures begun and and healing in their body you're expressing your permission for God to move just by using your normal words. Zaydiee says sorry.

Pastor Newms:

[41:39] I'll let you touch on that.

Pastor Bill:

[41:40] Authority on Earth and Phoenix says but he rules everything so God only has the authority that he is then given, on the earth because, he gave over the authority of the earth to Adam and Eve and their. And that Rings true over and that Concept in my opinion I mean obviously everything's up everything that isn't a Salvation issue is Up For Debate, in my opinion that Rings true over and over and over and over again. God didn't flood the Earth until after he talked to Noah I know I'm gonna do this thing and Noah goes alright I'll play my part, God didn't destroy Sodom and Gomorrah until he talked to Abraham and Abraham put conditions on his permission what if there's one person 1050 you know, anytime there's that big move God moves through Humanity. To get that that permission from The Authority that he set up he's not a liar and he's a gentleman and he's not gonna override that Authority.

Pastor Newms:

[43:05] And I think so it is definitely, for me like zaidi saying prayer is just talking to God it's really funny because Tina praise zadie praise a lot more than, lots of people that I know and I'll take something to her and be like hey can you pray for this oh I already was I wasn't sure why though. And but there is. That aspect of so for me this is one of the things me and you differ on slightly is I don't view it as much as. The. The Bible is written in such a way that when it talks about the authority it talks about prayer I think that we continue to pray. What God wants and like you said what zaidi said was did he did God go to those people out of kindness not asking permission. He It's it's the authority that he gave over to man over the Earth over the trees over the animals over Humanity it does. Permission has to be given to a certain degree but the thing is is so many people have prayed for permission so many times over time that. That's where my aspect comes into play where it's like so many people pray your will be done so often it's at a certain point where if you don't give him permission someone else might, and so there is there is those aspects and then Phoenix said he'll override if he needs to do it, he doesn't need Authority he's got all of it so I, I don't think that's accurate personally and I'll give two examples I can think of offhand one, there is a point in the Old Testament where there's a battle going on and someone prays that they can win the Israelite leader I can't remember which leader it is at that moment, get my brother's Moses or Joshua because my brain is not connecting but he prays and he says we need to win and God says okay I'll leave it daytime, as long as you leave your hands in the air. And God could have easily just been like okay it'll be daytime to you're done. When his arm started to go down it started become night when his arms went back up it didn't, so in that that was God had given us Authority and then he was only following through when, we were doing our part, we have to do our part of the story it's one of the reasons why I could never be an actual calvinist because a true calvinist doesn't believe in, we have to do our part of spreading. Planting the seeds and those types of things and I think it's the same with prayer we have to plant the seeds we have to. Do the asking God just won't do it normally.

Pastor Bill:

[47:31] And another another good example is in first Samuel when Saul does the wrong thing, and is no longer qualified to be king anymore. God doesn't just okay you're no longer King anymore he goes to Samuel and he says hey I need you to anoint a new king. And Samuel girls okay I'll do it even even in instituting the king of Israel God had to go through a human being. And get David anointed as king.

Pastor Newms:

[48:14] So Phoenix you just said something that if you're good, if you are going to hurt yourself if it's his will to stop you from doing harm he doesn't come to me and say can I have your permission to help you and I will agree with that he doesn't.

Pastor Bill:

[48:30] If that was true then no one would ever have committed suicide.

Pastor Newms:

[48:37] And the other aspect is the. There are people who are praying for us all the time friends families intercessors different aspects like that.

Pastor Bill:

[48:51] Well not everyone.

Pastor Newms:

[48:55] I don't know cuz some some people do real generic prayers and so because of that, it tends to cover whole groups of people.

Pastor Bill:

[49:05] Wait we assume that it does.

Pastor Newms:

[49:08] Yeah we assume.

Pastor Bill:

[49:09] We're doing a lot of assumption there.

Pastor Newms:

[49:12] And so I think that's that's the reason is that there are times that he steps in to stop something from happening. But it is because of a reason it's not just I don't think God ever forces something he. Like that I think it's it's it is that aspect. I don't quite understand what you mean Phoenix by that statement.

Pastor Bill:

[50:03] Well I said no one would have ever committed suicide and she's saying that's not the correct terminology, they should be they died by Suicide not that they committed suicide and I don't know the difference is that may just be my ignorance but if I'm saying that wrong I do apologize.

Pastor Newms:

[50:25] Yeah I'm not I haven't heard that.

Pastor Bill:

[50:26] The way that you're coming at me I may be reading too much into that, adding tone where there isn't tone the way you're coming at me it seems like I've triggered or hurt or put a fence in some way and I would never intentionally do that that's not what we're about, I don't want to hurt anyone or you know things like that I don't think there's any reason to intentionally hurt someone like that, so I'll have to look into that make sure that I'm using the right terminology and that area because I would I would hate for someone to be a survivor of. Attempted suicide or someone to be the family member of someone who did die by Suicide and, cause hurt and pain on top of what they've already experienced that's definitely not something that I would want to do. Okay, so yeah so prayer is this gotten a little bit off-track of the way I wanted prayer to go, like I said I'm not fully in charge here you know I get the topic and then we start flowing with the Holy Spirit and the kind of go where we go.

Pastor Newms:

[51:48] Questions are important.

Pastor Bill:

[51:49] Questions are very important and is is one of the main reasons why we do it this. Ah freak certifies that committed would be indicating that they committed an offense, and I guess I see that I mean I'm in a committed relationship, commitment and committed can be used in more terminology than just an offense but I can see how then adding that word to the word suicide has that.

Pastor Newms:

[52:25] Connotation difference between difference between the diction in the connotation I think is.

Pastor Bill:

[52:32] So now let's let's let's bring that second point that always pray around into what we talked about the Practical you know that begin with Point number one, and and in the Practical side of Prayer, Prather is this meditative process and I know a lot in Christian circles using the word meditation is a big No-No you know it causes all kinds of issues but, when we turn to the Psalms we find David saying that the words of my mouth and the meditations of my heart be pleasing To You O Lord, um And so there's this concept you know meditation is a Christian thing we meditate on the word we meditate you know on different things and prayer is a meditative process, and what prayer does is it lines up your mind with your spirit and creates this more, inline being within you. All meditation should do that but there are forms of meditation that you know cause you to be in more chaos and cause you to open yourself up to. Other things like I'm an empathic type person meaning I can sense when someone's anxious or when they're depressed and and then I start to, you know take that on in myself, and so there are certain types of meditation where I would I could take on like a sponge things that are bad for me, but prayer is this type of meditation to to line you up and give you this these great psychological, and so praying without ceasing is is a really good, meditative process that's good for you Spirit soul and body and so that's just another thing of you know well God wants you, not only committed to finding his will but also to be out of chaos to be, in line to be lined up with yourself to be at peace with yourself and the third Point here from first Thessalonians 5:18, he is always be thankful, find things to be thankful about find things to you know I'm so glad I have you in my life I'm so glad they made that decision I'm so glad that Ricola wrappers are yellow because yellow is my favorite color. Little Things, to be thankful about don't give me that look that's a little thing to be thankful about tiny little thing seems completely innocuous but when I look at Agricola rapper and I see my favorite color I'm thankful that the crappers my favorite color, little bit of thankfulness in my life.

Pastor Newms:

[55:33] I'll give you that it brings you a little Joy.

Pastor Bill:

[55:35] Yeah bring me a little Joy I get a little serotonin boost right which then helps Mal look in my attitude, and then I end up making better decisions and and people want to be around me they want to be there for me when I need people, and so thankful this creates this this Synergy in your life where you are, continuing with that attitude that you said in your rejoicing in the small things your continuing on that attitude and just getting better and better day by day, and all of this is then pinned with this is the life God wants you to live this is how God wants you to live, he wants you to be celebrating the small victories and setting that attitude he wants you to be praying in, and be in that meditative sync with all of your being he wants you to be thankful so that you're walking out that attitude that you set and so that things are getting better and so that you are, attracting a tribe around you to help carry you forward and help you succeed and that. Is what I have to say about that.

Pastor Newms:

[56:55] And I think it goes back to the I think all of these these three tie-in so well you know. In prayer we are thinking all the time you know. And I think it is those those three together help like you're saying an attitude of fun and attitude of.

Pastor Bill:

[57:20] It's it's the trifecta of a healthy psychology. Really is rejoicing meditating and being thankful and as Christians our form of meditation is. But it's a psychological Trifecta that that helps create a healthy psyche and creates people that are. Whole and healthy and obviously, it's a day-by-day process everyone's on their own Journey everyone has their own struggles my struggles don't invalidate your struggles and vice versa my successes don't invalidate your successes vice versa, we can Rejoice with each other we can mourn with each other we can celebrate with each other we can, cry with each other we can be thankful for each other we can disagree and still be together, in harmony which is a beautiful thing alright you have anything you want to depend on the end of this concept Pastor Newms before.
